Project Manager.

The Board of the Firies Business Hub DAC are delight to be awarded funding under the Regional Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) for The Kerry Food Hub 02 project. This comprises of the physical expansion to our premises and development of an online sales tool designed to provide greater connectivity between the Hub-based artisan producers and buyers in one of their key target markets.

Firies Business Hub DAC require a Project Manager to engage in the planning and delivery of The Kerry Food Hub 02 project, along with a range of programmes and initiatives.

The Project Manager reports to the Board of Firies Business Hub DAC and is responsible for existing development programmes, the development of new programmes, the identification and securing of funding, the execution of the financial, administrative, legal and secretarial functions of the company, all of which will include, inter alia, the following :-

Key responsibilities

  • The overall management of the affairs and operations of the company;
  • Managing the delivery of the company’s programmes;
  • Function autonomously and jointly with the Directors. Routinely make management decisions pertaining to project issues with minimal supervision throughout the life of the various projects.
  • Execute the drawdown of Enterprise Ireland, Regional Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) funding.
  • Determining and formulating policies, objectives and strategies and providing overall advice and direction to the Board;
  • Securing funding from diverse sources for the existing project and for new programmes and initiatives;
  • Representing and promoting the company at local, national and international level to various bodies and agencies, to the media and the general public especially at local level;
  • Working with local stakeholders to identify and develop new opportunities for the benefit of food producers.
  • Developing strategic alliances with appropriate bodies and networks to jointly explore and develop opportunities, set and monitor targets for the company’s projects and ensure that they achieve value for money in their delivery;
  • Demonstrate strong commercial awareness and cost control ability with a proven track record in the area of construction planning.
  • Technically competent with the ability to set and track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Function effectively as liaison between the company and external client executives so as to protect the company and the specific project, to resolve issues or concerns in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
  • Instruct, coach and direct the project staff with respect to construction, contractual, and regulatory requirements with responsibility for assigned work.
  • Responsibility for the delivery of the programme objectives on time, within specification and on budget
  • Ensure all personnel conduct their duties to the highest standards.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, analyse results and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Build, grow and develop business relationships for the success of the project
  • Provide feedback and record information from the project for ‘lessons learnt’
  • Arrange for regular opportunities for conferring with Board members;
  • Review operations and evaluate the performance of the programmes delivered by the company on an ongoing basis;
  • Ensure that the necessary structures and resources are in place to meet the company’s current requirements and into the future;
  • Provide appropriate and necessary management and financial accounts for the company and ensure company compliance with all statutory procedures and requirements;
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are complied with at all times
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the Board from time to time.


  • Minimum 7 years’ senior leadership experience with proven developmental, financial, and analytical skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer and database applications such as Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Proven entrepreneurial and commercial experience with ability to identify and develop new income streams.
  • Proven experience in the identification and securing of funding, private and state sources.
  • A high level of experience in developing, driving and delivering strategic plans including in rural, community or related fields.
  • A thorough understanding of local development funding and be familiar with legislation, regulations, policies and practice in these areas.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, human resources and change management skills.
  • Strong corporate governance skills.
  • Proven competence in attracting and managing funding from different sources.
  • The ability to build, prioritise and implement with a strong strategic perspective while being able to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • The ability to develop, motivate and lead all levels of the organisation and to both work independently and participate as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to identify and manage conflict and sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes with confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
