The ‘Kerry Food Hub’ is a not-for-profit community project located in Firies, Co Kerry. Managed strategically by a board of social entrepreneurs, the Hub’s overall aim is to enhance employment opportunities in the region and make the community it serves a ‘better place to live.’
The Hub’s purpose-built food production facilities provide start-up entrepreneurs and small but growth-oriented food businesses the opportunity to expand and develop at a rate that would be far more difficult to achieve without easy access to a dedicated and high-quality food-production unit. With full occupancy ever since its launch the Hub’s success has been demonstrably evident – both to the Hub’s stakeholders and to the wider Firies community.
“Growth of this nature is what we strive for as an organisation. Nurturing and developing embryonic food production talent to a point where that same talent can move onto bigger and better things is our goal. And to date we consider ourselves very successful in achieving that goal.” – David Gleeson, Chairman & Founder.
